The Fondazione Prada Film Fund (FPFF) supports independent feature film projects at one of the following stages:

• Development
• Production
• Post-production

Applications may be submitted only by a production company involved in the project.

Projects must comply with all eligibility requirements set out below.

The FPFF guarantees complete artistic freedom to filmmakers. Projects are evaluated by independent readers and external consultants.

Final selection is made by a committee appointed by Fondazione Prada, which also determines the amount of each grant.

The FPFF does not participate as a co-producer and imposes no territorial, linguistic, thematic, or genre restrictions.

APPLICANT

• The applying production company must have produced at least two feature films that were selected and premiered at an international film festival listed in the official eligibility checklist.
• The applicant production company must participate to the project with at least 20% of the total budget of the film

PROJECT

• The project must be a feature film with a minimum running time of 65 minutes.

FINANCIAL REQUIREMENT

• Projects in Development: At least 70% of the development budget must be secured through confirmed and documented financing.
  At least 20% of the total production budget must be secured through confirmed and documented financing.
• Projects in Production: At least 50% of the total production budget must be secured through confirmed and documented financing.
• Projects in Post-production: At least 80% of the total production budget must be secured through confirmed and documented financing.
  The film must be completed within six months of the grant award.

BUDGET STRUCTURE

• General overhead and administrative expenses may not exceed 10% of the total project budget.

WHAT IS THE FONDAZIONE PRADA FILM FUND?
The FPFF is a fund aimed at fostering the creation of independent contemporary films. The artistic qualities and the strength of the production plan are the main criteria on which the projects are assessed.

WHO CAN APPLY?
The application must be submitted by a production company.

WHO IS THE BENEFICIARY OF THE GRANT?
In case of selection, the applicant company is the beneficiary of the fund and the sole responsible for the respect of the fund terms and conditions.

CAN I APPLY AS A DIRECTOR?
No, the application can not be done by an individual.

CAN I APPLY AS MINORITY PRODUCTION COMPANY?
Yes, the application can be presented by a minority production company, if their investment on the total costs of the project is at least 20% and if their track record respects the eligibility criteria.

CAN A PRODUCTION COMPANY SUBMIT MORE THAN ONE PROJECT?
Yes, a production company can submit more than one project, as long as each project meets the eligibility criteria.

IS THE FUND OPEN TO PROJECTS WORLDWIDE?
Yes, the FPFF is an international fund with no geographic restrictions.

CAN I APPLY FOR A DOCUMENTARY?
Yes, the FPFF is open to all genres.

WHAT ARE THE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA?
The eligibility criteria are listed in the Regulations. They must be met at the moment of the application.

WHAT ARE THE ACCEPTED LANGUAGES?
The FPFF only accepts submissions in English. Applications in any other language (Italian included) will be considered ineligible.

HOW MANY CALLS ARE THERE PER YEAR?
The FPFF has one yearly call for projects.

DO I NEED TO SPEND THE GRANT I RECEIVED IN ITALY?
No.

WHAT ARE THE ELIGIBLE COSTS THAT CAN BE COVERED BY THE FPFF CONTRIBUTION
The full list of eligible expenses is specified in the regulations.

CAN A PROJECT BENEFIT FROM THE FPFF AT VARIOUS STAGES OF PRODUCTION?
Yes, a project can apply again in the upcoming calls and can receive a maximum of two out of three production contributions.

CAN I SUBMIT A PROJECT TWICE?
Yes, you may resubmit a project, but only if it has developed or changed since the original submission. Please note that submission is limited to a total of two attempts.

CAN I APPLY WITH A SHORT OR A SERIES PROJECT?
The FPFF is open only for feature film projects with a minimum duration of 65 minutes.

WILL I BE NOTIFIED IF THE PROJECT IS NOT SELECTED?
Yes, the FPFF staff will notify you if you are not selected. However, if your application is incomplete and missing any mandatory information or if it doesn’t respect the eligibility criteria, it will be discarded without notification.

WHAT IS A PITCH DECK?
A pitch deck is a document that presents the project. It includes still images, a profile of the artistic team, a synopsis, a link to a teaser (if available), and statements from the director and producer.

WHAT ARE THE ROUGH-CUT REQUIREMENTS?
To apply for post-production support, you must submit a rough cut that is at least 60 minutes in length.

CAN I UPDATE MY PROJECT AFTER THE APPLICATION DEADLINE?
No. Only exceptional updates requested within the deadlines specified during the project application process will be accepted.

WHAT ARE THE OBLIGATIONS IF THE PROJECT IS GRANTED?
The obligations of selected beneficiaries are governed by a contract with Fondazione Prada. The applicant’s production company remains solely responsible for complying with all applicable requirements and conditions.
