During their 2023 Memento Mori World Tour, Depeche Mode played three historic concerts at Mexico City’s Foro Sol. Depeche Mode: M captures that collective energy, intertwining the band’s performances with archival footage and images that evoke the connection between music and Mexico’s culture of death.
Premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and directed by award-winning Mexican filmmaker Fernando Frías, the documentary takes the audience on an immersive journey into the universe of Depeche Mode, a band that has profoundly shaped the musical and cultural imagination of recent decades. The narrative voice of actor Daniel Giménez Cacho guides viewers through a sonic and visual landscape where the sacred meets the profane, transforming a concert into a collective spiritual experience. An intense reflection on time, memory, and the possibility of transforming grief into a shared ritual.
