The second meeting as part of the program “Preserving the Brain: A Call to Action” is organised in cooperation with Confederazione Parkinson Italia.
The one-day event on 12 December includes a series of experiences and guided tours dedicated to the confederation’s community and a talk at the Godard cinema, open to the public that investigates many aspects of the fight against this pathology: from primary and secondary prevention to early diagnosis, from the integrated treatment model to pharmacological therapies, from the specialized psychological support to rehabilitation treatment, from interventional therapies in advanced Parkinson’s to early approach and palliative care, to conclude with an in-depth analysis on the current state of research and experimental therapies.
Two round tables, moderated by journalist Nicoletta Carbone, was introduced by the reading of Stories of resistance to Parkinson’s, performed by actor Claudio Beccari and accompanied by the projection of images by photojournalist Giovanni Diffidenti and the voices of actors Lella Costa and Claudio Bisio. The two discussions feature Angelo Antonini, Full Professor of Neurology at the Università degli Studi di Padova and Head of the Parkinson’s Disease Unit and Motor disorders at Clinica Neurologica dell’Azienda Ospedale Università di Padova; Roberto Eleopra, Director of the Department of Clinical neurosciences at the Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Neurologico Carlo Besta in Milan; Catia Leuzzi, Neurological Case manager at the Department of Neurology at the Fondazione I.R.C.C.S. Istituto Neurologico Carlo Besta in Milan; Valentina Margio, Parkinson’s Disease patient; Giangi Milesi, President of Confederazione Parkinson Italia and Vicepresident of Fondazione Pubblicità Progresso; Paola Ortelli, Clinical Psychologist at Azienda Sanitaria dell’Alto Adige Comprensorio sanitario in Bressanone, Ospedale di Vipiteno; Daniele Volpe, Director of the Department of Rehabilitation at Centro Parkinson di Villa Margherita in Vicenza and Director of the Fresco Parkinson Institute Italia Onlus in Fiesole.
