Guests invited to a hunting party gather at the home of the Marquis De la Chesnay. In a web of infidelity and marital hypocrisy, the marquis leaves his mistress to try to win back his wife, who in turn is being courted by a famous aviator and by his friend. Meanwhile, servants too weave their own love affairs. But tragedy strikes the high-society party when the gamekeeper shoots the aviator, whom he believes having an affair with his wife.
