#Anteprima, the section dedicated to films not yet released in Italian theaters, hosts on Sunday, 14 June the preview of Le lac (2025), the feature debut of Fabrice Aragno, presented in competition at the 2025 Locarno Film Festival.
The screening is followed by a conversation between the Swiss director and Paolo Moretti.

On the waters of Lake Geneva, a couple takes part in the 5 Jours du Léman, one of the world’s most extreme regattas: five days and five nights of non-stop sailing without assistance.
After more than twenty years collaborating with Jean-Luc Godard as producer and director of photography, and following numerous short films and documentaries, Fabrice Aragno makes his fiction feature debut with an evocative and mesmerizing work. Premiered in competition at the 2025 Locarno Film Festival, Le lac uses the struggle of a couple engaged in an exhausting sailing race to portray the universal trajectory of human existence. Aragno immerses the viewer in a fully sensory and visual experience, making the image the absolute protagonist of a narrative that unfolds like a succession of moving tableaux. The result is a deeply poetic and contemplative film that moves between day and night, reality and imagination, life and death. “We would like to cross over to the other side… but we cannot… Nevertheless, we can hear the voice of this life in the roar of the waves, the breath of the air, the passing clouds, the lonely cry of the birds” (Fabrice Aragno).
