Scenes from Italy in the 1970s, between workers’ demonstrations and trivial bourgeois situations. Giovanni shreds the film screen after watching a Godard film and scenes from other of his works. In the center of Rome, workers from the Apollon factory demonstrate while a voiceover by one of the participants relates the difficulties of their long occupation of the plant. Meanwhile, a middle-class living room is the setting for a party of no consequence, but the voices of the participants cannot be heard. Other sequences follow and break in on one another, featuring the writer Alberto Moravia, pairs of lovers, the poet Sandro Penna, confused images of Vietnam, a scantily dressed young woman, a farmer tracing the outline of a hammer and sickle in the earth of his field.
