Cinema Godard, Soggettiva Lucrecia Martel, Ph Patrick Toomey Neri

Lucrecia Martel (1966) is an Argentine film director, screenwriter and producer. Largely self-taught, Martel began her career directing short films between 1988 and 1995, one of which, Rey muerto (1995), won a number of awards on the international film festival circuit. The director is best known for her feature films, La ciénaga, La niña santa and La mujer sin cabeza, all shot in the Salta region, and Zama. His films have won awards at many major festivals, including the 1999 Sundance Film Festival, the 2001 Berlin International Film Festival, and the 2008 Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival.

In April the director joined Paolo Moretti in a public talk dedicated to her filmography presented during #Soggettiva. Screenings program includes all her films: from her astonishing debut film La ciénaga(2001) followed by La niña santa (2004) and La mujer sin cabeza (2008) to Zama (2017) a film produced by Pedro Almodóvar, presented at the 2017 Venice Film Festival and nominated in 2018 for the Goya Award for Best Foreign Language Film in Spanish.
