In October, #Studio returns with an events dedicated to the history of the independent contemporary art space Careof in Milan, active since 1987 and recognized in 2006 among the Historical Archives of national relevance by the Italian Ministry of Culture. On Sunday, 22 October, Careof Directors Marta Bianchi and Marta Cereda will hold a talk together with curator Paolo Moretti. The meeting follows the film screenings.
The event is part of #Studio, exploring unprecedented contaminations between cinema and the visual arts.
Careof is an independent space for contemporary art, an archive and a center for production and in-depth study of time-based media: it creates, exhibits, catalogs, preserves, and promotes works related to the moving image, in a dimension of circular valorization. Born in 1987 in Cusano Milanino thanks to Mario Gorni and Zefferina Castoldi, it is now based in Milan, inside Fabbrica del Vapore, where it encourages research and supports cultural production through exhibitions, screenings, workshops, conferences and hybrid projects.
The focus of Careof’s activity is the Video Archive, one of the most important Italian collections from the 1970s to the present, with more than 9,000 titles, constantly expanding and recognized by the Ministry of Culture as being of Historical Interest.
