On Saturday, 20 April, the screening of Last Cannibal World (1997) by Ruggero Deodato is accompanied by a conversation between the actor and dubber Massimo Foschi and critic Manlio Gomarasca.
The first film in the famous Cannibal Trilogy, Last Cannibal World is a gory and sanguinary film about the macabre adventure of a group of researchers in an anthropophagic hell. Presented in full and restored 4K version under the supervision of Lamberto Bava.
The event is part of #Nocturna, which investigates genre cinema with in partnership with the Nocturno magazine.
BIOGRAPHY
Born in Forlì in 1938, Massimo Foschi attended the Silvio D’Amico National Academy of Dramatic Art in 1959-1960. When his teacher, Orazio Costa, made him debut in the theater, he was appreciated by directors such as Giorgio Strehler, Luca Ronconi, Giorgio De Lullo, and Franco Zeffirelli. His filmography includes memorable films like The Bible: In the Beginning… (1966) by John Huston; Be Sick… It’s Free (1968) by Luigi Zampa; Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion (1970) by Elio Petri; Brother Sun, Sister Moon (1972) by Zeffirelli; Last Cannibal World (1977) by Ruggero Deodato; Holocaust 2000 (1997) by Alberto De Martino. Alongside his acting career, he carries out an intense activity as a dubber in all Kubrick’s films from 2001: A Space Odyssey onwards.
