BIOGRAPHY
Jonathan Glazer emerged in the early 1990s as one of the most innovative directors in the audiovisual landscape, creating iconic music videos for artists such as Radiohead, Massive Attack, Nick Cave, Blur, and Jamiroquai. During the same period, he produced art installations, short films, and advertising campaigns for brands including Guinness, Levi’s, Nike, Stella Artois, and Alexander McQueen, receiving two Black Pencils for the Guinness Surfer commercial, widely regarded as one of the absolute landmarks of advertising.
He made his feature film debut with Sexy Beast (2000), a gangster film that earned Ben Kingsley an Oscar nomination for Best Actor. This was followed by Birth (2004), a cult film starring Nicole Kidman, and Under the Skin (2013), a hypnotic reinterpretation of Michel Faber’s novel of the same name, acclaimed as one of the most important films of the twenty-first century. His most recent work, The Zone of Interest (2023), is a radical and disturbing film that observes the everyday life of the Höss family living next to the Auschwitz extermination camp. The film received unanimous acclaim from international critics, winning the Grand Prix at Cannes, three BAFTA Awards, and two Academy Awards, including Best International Feature Film and Best Sound, confirming Glazer as one of the most rigorous and visionary auteurs in contemporary cinema.
