Organized by Fondazione Prada and the University Vita-Salute San Raffaele’s School of Philosophy, the symposium offered an occasion for historical and philosophical reflection on the events of September 11.
The speakers examined the consequences and implications of the tragic events of September 11 on the contemporary art scene: the inherent fragility of our social organization; religious differences that tend increasingly to assume cultural differences; a radicalness of the concept of enemy that, along with the now global extent of the conflict, increasingly characterizes the new political setting; and, finally, the nihilist attitude that seems to irremediably surround and permeate that same conflict.
The conference included an open panel with the participation of Ernesto Galli della Loggia, Massimo Cacciari, Roberta De Monticelli, Michele Di Francesco and Emanuele Severino.
